We started the day early morning by setting up the booth and watched the 3K runners line up on the starting line of the race. It was quite a scene, looking like thousands of participants joined the event and later came back to pick up their purple shirt.
The crowds kept us busy all morning at the festival. We introduced our new hair salon to the local community, meeting with other local small businesses present at the festival and offering free haircuts and skincare consults. All our giveaways (combs, clips and product samples) were gone by the lunch time!
We were lucky enough to get introduced to Ms Virginia, Julie Wilson. Julie is running for Ms USA US Continental in August 2017 and will represent the State of Virginia. We also had the opportunity to meet with Sally at the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. According to the Falls Church News Press, more than 10,000 visitors attended the festival.
Finally, by 2PM we lined up to join the parade (at Spot #53) and had a great time sharing smiles and candies with the crowds. The day ended so well with the award for Best Marching Band (Professional) given to our friends from Batala Washington.
The parade was recorded by Falls Church Community Television and will make it available via YouTube soon. It will also be broadcast on FCCTV available on Cox channel 11, RCN channel 2, and Verizon channel 35. The schedule has yet to be announced.
